151: Interview with Toogee Sielsch a.k.a. Tahoe Toogee a.k.a. The Bear Whisperer

The Bucks get educated by Toogee Sielsch, probably the world's leading authority on urbanized black bears. Tahoe Toogee, as he's called, has lived in the Tahoe area for forty years and has participated in hundreds of active bear evictions/aversions.  He also has over a thousand hours of training in rehabbing rescued black bears.

Toogee has been featured in a BBC wildlife documentary, an NPR podcast, and was the field guide for Corey Arnold, a National Geographic photographer working on a story about urbanized wildlife published in the July 2022 issue of Nat Geo.

Toogee highly recommends bearwise.org as a source for learning about co-existing with black bears.

Toogee also filmed this video of a black bear behaving much like an Old Buck slipping into nap time.
